45, the gop and fox: The Lie as a Form of Art

For almost three decades, the vile propaganda arm of the republican party known as fox fixed news noise has made a fortune poisoning the airwaves and the minds of unsuspecting, ignorant victims of mind games and outright deceit by propagating one despicable lie after another, lies designed to empower the gop and in so doing enrich the wealthiest individuals and corporations that seek little more than control of the United States government in order to institutionalize their single-minded business practices of creating profit and protecting wealth. In such politicians as paul ryan and mitch mcconnell, their cohorts and their predecessors, they built a network of hand maidens whose only task was to remake laws and regulations and the thought processes of millions of gop lemmings into their personal social and economic slaves, disdaining the needs of hundreds of millions of people made subservient to their desire for overwhelming riches and power. With the election of the 45th president of the United States, they achieved the ultimate goals of 1) consolidated power and 2) a leader who has no morality, ethics or

compassion and who would not tell the truth about the time of day, let alone about political, economic and social reality.

Numerous publications have documented the ongoing, pervasive, continuous stream of lies that emanate from the occupier of the Oval Office. Among the first to do so by compiling what they believed to be a comprehensive list at the time of all of 45’s lies, in what was called a public service worthy of the Pulitzer Prize by legendary journalist Bill Moyers, was the New York Times, in a piece simply called “Trump’s Lies”.

In August, the Washington post reported that he had surpassed well over one thousand lies over his first seven months in office (“President Trump’s list of false and misleading claims tops 1,000”) and Huffington attempted a bit earlier to list all of his lies, finding that he had been lie-free only on 39 days through his first six months in office (“Here’s A List Of Every Single Trump Lie Since He Took Office”).

Now, in a poll of its readers, Politifact.com has found one of 45s ongoing lies to be, hands down, the LIE OF THE YEAR. This is, of course, his continuing daily pronouncement that “this Russia thing” is a “made-up story”. In an amazing result, amazing only because they had so many outrageous lies to choose from, was the statistic that this one particular lie was chosen number one by 56.36% of those responding to Poliftifica’s poll.

Runner’s up were, of course, other republicans and purveyors of the lies and deceit of gop propaganda, such as gop Congressmen Raul Labrador who came in second among readers at 14.47% for his lies that “Nobody dies because they do not have access to health care”. Placing third among readers was former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer, who received 14.25% of the vote for his lie that 45’s inauguration had the biggest audience ever for a presidential inauguration. Placing fourth was fox fixed news noise climate change

denier Greg Gutfeld, for his lie that every year’s world-wide rise in temperature has been within the margin of error inherent in such tabulations. Rounding out the top five was another lie from 45, this one his deceitful statements about the Charlottesville nazis, and it received 2.5% of the vote.

Based in part on their poll results and on their own independent evaluation, Politifact also chose fallacious statements on the “Russia thing” to be their own choice as LIE OF THE YEAR.

To my mind, there should have been at least an honorable mention of his repeated lies that the gop tax bill would cost him and his friends a considerable amount of money, when facts have been clear from day one that elements of the bill consisted would produce a monumental windfall of millions of dollars for 45 and the richest Americans and giant corporations. In fact, it has now been widely reported that since 45 made his way to mar-a-lego for this past weekend, that he has celebrated with his cadre of filthy rich cronies, rubbing in the wounds of average Americans their new-found riches.

As CBS reported and as widely quoted thereafter, 45 told friends “you all just got a lot richer” due to passage of the tax bill.

By the way, those friends consisted of mar-a-lego members who now pay the an initiation fee of $200,000 to join, up 100% from the pre-election price tag. And all that buys is access to the president of the United States. That’s all.

Of course, estimates have been published that indicate that 45 alone figures to save $11 Million PER YEAR in taxes lowered or eliminated by the gop bill.

For the record, 45 also won LIE OF THE YEAR from Politifact last year for his lies about fake news, and in 2015 for his lies about “thousands and thousands” of Muslims in New Jersey cheering the destruction and deaths of Sept. 11.

Three years in a row: Shouldn’t Politifact name the award in his honor?

About theHoundDawg

For many years as a lawyer, I saw much of the good and bad of society, and did what I could to right many wrongs. The lack of understanding of what is good and bad, right and wrong, just and unjust, as evidenced by such events as the election of King W as president, (who as such far surpassed the evil of richard nixon but not quite that of ronald reagan) lead me in a new direction, to spend my time trying to understand what is happening to our society, to try as best I can to spread my insights to others, and along the way to maybe even eke out a living through the internet.
