Rock, Scissors, Paper, GUN, and 9 Shots

Little information was released early today concerning the shooting at Dallas’ Love Field, and it is no wonder, once the outrageous facts have become known.

It seems a fellow, African-American of course, was dropping off his girl friend at the airport, when they got into a disturbance. He picked up a rock, and used it to break a car window, and according to police, then displayed it in a threatening manner.

So, what was the police response to the man with the rock? As this video shows (just listen and count) they shot at him NINE times, hitting hit with four bullets.

Holding a rock, even in a “threatening” manner DOES NOT JUSTIFY FIRING NINE SHOTS AT HIM!

The gun mentality and such massive retaliation have no place in today’s fragile society.

From the LA Times account: “Man throwing rocks shot by police at Dallas airport, authorities say

“A police officer shot and wounded a man Friday outside a Dallas airport after the man attacked a woman believed to be the mother of his children and then threatened the officer with a large rock, police said.

“There doesn’t appear to be any other weapon present than the rock,” Dallas police Assistant Chief Randall Blakenbaker said.

Asked why the officer fired so many rounds at a man holding a rock, Blankenbaker said only that he did not know how many shots were fired. “We have to conduct an investigation over those types of speculation.

“Traveler Lucinda Fonseca told WFAA-TV that she and her husband were coming out of the baggage claim area when they saw police approaching the man throwing rocks and one of the officers drew a gun.

“’The man was yelling at the cops, basically saying, ‘Shoot me shoot me, I dare you,’ something to that effect,’” Fonseca said, adding that she then heard gunfire.”

So, the new method of policing in Dallas is to shoot when somene dares you to shoot. While armed with a rock.

About theHoundDawg

For many years as a lawyer, I saw much of the good and bad of society, and did what I could to right many wrongs. The lack of understanding of what is good and bad, right and wrong, just and unjust, as evidenced by such events as the election of King W as president, (who as such far surpassed the evil of richard nixon but not quite that of ronald reagan) lead me in a new direction, to spend my time trying to understand what is happening to our society, to try as best I can to spread my insights to others, and along the way to maybe even eke out a living through the internet.
